Unlock Your Heart ...

LIF Key Recycling Program

How many keys do you have in your pocket? Five, six, ...more? Do you know which key fits what lock? If you are like most Americans you carry between 10 -12 keys in your pocket or purse. That is a lot of metal to tote around, especially if the keys are no longer used. And what about all those keys in the bottom of the drawer?

We have the perfect answer, donate them to your LIF. We have begun a recycling program for all brass, steel, and aluminum keys. By recycling these metals additional funds can be raised to operate services to the hearing & visually impaired in Illinois.

How to Collect Keys for Recycling

Prepare a plastic container or box by creating a slot in the top of the container. Attach a label with the name of the Lion, Lioness, or Leo Club, and contact info of a member to replace the box when full. that member should also be prepared to answer basic questions about the type of keys accepted.

Locations for key collection containers are up to the clubs. We suggest high traffic areas such as the post office, local hardware store, or shopping center make excellent locations. Community schools are also an opportunity for students to practice recycling.

When the container is full it should be picked up and replaced by your Club. The donated keys may then be given to your District Trustee for delivery to the Lions of Illinois Foundation.
