It is wonderful to make a difference in the life of a child.
Not only because you have brightened a child's world, but because you have enhanced and expanded your personal skills as well.

Basic Info:

The Outdoor Retreat Ministries (ORM) is now seeking qualified adults, age 18 or older, who enjoy working with kids for the Camp Lions of Illinois program. Basic duties include being a positive role model to some very independent kids with hearing & vision loss.

Activities to supervise include swimming, horse back riding, archery, hikes, team sports & games, canoeing, cookouts, sing-a-longs, and a lot of fun times.

Hired employees will receive room & board, CPR certification training, and Basic First Aid certification training and instruction in adaptive activites designed to accommodate the needs of persons with vision and/or hearing loss.

Some college students have been able to use their employment to develop their sign language techniques, child care skills, and earn possible credit hours from the experience.

Sign Language skills & previous experience with people with
physical, auditory,
and/or visual impairments
is a definite plus, but not required.

ORM Staff at Camp Lions of Illinois must be available from May 29, 2006 to August 8, 2006.
