Hearing
The Lions of Illinois Foundation is proud to offer the following programs
for those individuals with hearing loss, partial hearing, and are Deaf in Illinois.
Mobile Hearing Unit
The Mobile Hearing Screening Unit is one the most visible services of the LIF. This "hearing exam on wheels' is often seen at health fairs, schools, and even the Illinois State Fair. Reaching out to the communities we serve, the Mobil Hearing Screening Unit is hosted by Local Lions/Lioness Clubs to provide hearing screenings throughout Illinois. While the screenings are free, donations are always accepted to ensure this program will continue in Illinois.

Infant Hearing Screenings
The Lions of Illinois Infant Hearing Screening Program is open to children birth to age five years old. Our screenings uses small sound emissions called Otacoustic Emissions. These sounds are generated by a normal healthy ear. By placing a soft plug into the ear canal volunteer audiologists can record these sounds and display them on a computer screen. If otacoustic emissions are present, this suggests that the child has normal hearing.
